The Future of Training: Is the Strength Equipment Market Redefining Arm Wrestling?

Hey PAA family,

As arm wrestlers, we know that raw strength and technique are only part of the equation—smart training is everything. Lately, I’ve been diving into the latest trends in training gear and came across a report from Market Research Future that highlights explosive growth in the Strength Equipment Market.

What’s interesting is how fast innovation is happening in this space. From resistance machines with digital feedback to adjustable grip and tendon-strengthening tools, the equipment designed for serious strength athletes is becoming more precise, customizable, and high-tech. This opens the door for arm wrestlers to train more effectively—targeting specific muscle groups like forearms, wrists, and connective tissues with greater accuracy.

On a related note, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH)—a branch of the CDC—offers great information on injury prevention and muscle recovery, especially for high-intensity sports. For those of us who train hard year-round, their guidance can help us stay healthy and avoid overtraining.

So here’s a question for the group:Have you started using any advanced strength equipment or recovery tools in your arm wrestling training? What’s made the biggest difference in your performance?

Let’s share tips, tools, and tech that are taking our training to the next level. Whether it’s grip trainers, cable resistance devices, or wearable feedback tech—knowledge is power, and we’re all here to grow stronger.

Todd Hutchings put a lot of information of his training that he developed after talking with Louie Simmons of Westside Barbell. He also advocates building a your own kit to suit, which I think is a lot of the fun of it. I have a welder & workshop so when I see something interesting I make a copy & try it out. I don't think that there is a big market for manufactured armwrestling kit in the UK - a few have tried, but didn't seem to last. Gods of Grip seem to be doing well - they probably are the leader in the UK currently. I think variable resistance against a spring to a dead stop chain into an isometric contraction probably gave me the most impovement last year. Everyone has a different length of arm, size hand & style - so generic equipment that everyone would want is unlikely. A beer towel attached to a cable machine, bungee, band or spring works well enough more than any handle in my opinion.
