The WELCOME TO THE TOON Warzone in Newcastle on 4th July is stage 4 of the league. It's also Independence Day in the US & a few years back there was a documentary about a big spaceship that came to Earth & we had to fight them off. It was pretty tough going & the word is they're returning this year with a better plan. Instead of mutliple ships targetting New York, London, Paris & the other places listed on the side of Derek Trotters yellow van the super big one is coming to Newcastle & that's why we're doing the Warzone on that day. The crack team of Dave Curry, Andrew Renwick, Lloyd Herpurker, Neil Cass & Robert Scott have been in secret training to repel alien forces from taking the Roadwarrior Warzone belt off planet. They'll be kitted out in urban camo with Dayglo shoes & sweatbands with industrial strength tin foil wrapped around their heads. We're hoping that some of league leaders - Callum Rice, Karl Crosby, Bogdan Badiu, Chris Rimmer & David Bradford attend too & maybe last year's champion Reuben Hughes will don the infamous Donkey Jacket & join the reception committee. We have the Atom Bomb too - they don't stand a chance.
Assuming that life on earth continues, SUMMERSLAM follows on two weeks later. Our favourite South Coast ape twins are again hosting a spectacular event at the seaside with a barbecue. Get your annual bath in at the same time - the sea is only yards away. There is always side table action. I don't know if matches are still available, but there are always timid souls who decide not to turn up after begging for a match so if you're willing you might be able to step in.
