PRESIDENT's BULLETIN

Public·24 members

Updated 8th June 2025

TRIPLE CROWN 3: When Paul Maiden first told me about having a three tournament series called the Triple Crown with a ten grand giveaway at the end I thought he had gone mad. By my standards (& his) that is saying something. I suggested that it was too complicated for most to understand & despite there being a written description on the events calendar explaining it all (which most people won't have read) it will remain a mystery to some. He's seen it through & next Saturday someone will win the draw & go home with £5000, another with £2500 & someone else gets £1500. 3 armwrestling tables after that & one for the best team. It's almost self harm on his part - it's not something I would do, though maybe my choices are similar in some respects. I admire his commitment to continually put something back into a sport that he loves & it is a testament to how much he feels he has gained from it over the years. I still think it is madness. Will he do it again? Well I wouldn't - I don't think people have got behind it as much as they should have - but Armgods have a vision & commitment like no other promotion. That's why I support them.

I've updated the EVENTS CALENDAR:

PAA REGIONAL WARZONE YORKSHIRE CUP confirmed 4th October,

Golden Lion 24 Chapeltown, Pudsey LS28 8BL

2026 now has the following dates:

4th January   - UdezumouUK Tag Warzone     - Birmingham

28th February - PAA REGIONAL WARZONE    - Preston

4th April     - PAA REGIONAL WARZONE     - Motherwell

Late April    - PAA REGIONAL WARZONE     - Devon

May/June  - PAA REGIONAL WARZONE - Newcastle (date to fit around EUROS)

Late June     - PAA REGIONAL WARZONE     - Swindon

Overseas trips with ARMGODS, IFA EUROS & IFA WORLDS have approximate dates which I have left large gaps for: other events & locations will be considered once those details are known.

WARZONE: Some suggestions over the year have been to have less regional competitions, whilst others have wanted more. By the end of 2025 I will have organised 10 tournaments. That's not even a fifth of the available events now. Oversaturation? Too much choice? Or just right? I honestly don't know. I think there are events to suit all levels in most areas which can only be a good thing. There was a time when I was organising matches with neighbours on the wheelie bin outside my house. Everything starts somewhere. A Warzone league was suggested where those competing in more than one would accumulate points to determine a champion who would win a belt or trophy. I like that idea & it wouldn't be difficult to have a league built in within the results to reward the regulars for wins & places. An ongoing top 10 updated after each tournament might be of interest to the regulars, get a few rivalries going. Maybe no surprise that Reuben Hughes & Lee Webber have won the most Warzones with 5 arms between them so far. A points system that included all finalists might tell another tale.

Summerslam next month is on at Goring Sea front, a chance to enjoy a barbecue & beer in the sunshine with matches going on throughout which you could be part of. Even the rain one year did not stop the fun & a dip in the sea afterwards could count as a yearly wash too. Sussex Armwrestling is your contact - not too late I believe to make a match if you contact Dan Tutt swiftly.

See you down the road.
